Without the ballast level sensor, the Peak Surf System uses calibration and timers to determine how much water has been pumped into or out of the bag. While this approach works well, there are some downfalls. The level sensor overcomes those downfalls. While this is a completely optional component, it is recommended for the best surf experience.
Downfalls to the timer system:
- If the system is turned off while the ballast bag is partially full, there is no way to determine how much water is in the bag.
- if your ballast bag has a leak, passive fill or passive empty issue, the timer setup will not detect that.
Installation is easy. Simply insert the sensor into the bag through an unused port and connect the sensor to the appropriate input on the Peak Surf System. Once calibrated, the sensor will be used in addition to the timers for a more accurate weight.
